Recent media reports have indicated that bioterrorism remains a major concern for many U.S. citizens. Federal, state, and local governments continue to work together to develop and implement plans to protect the public against future attacks, as well as to ensure that emergency management plans are in place should any such attacks occur in the future. Many nonprofit organizations, such as the American Water Works Association, whose members include municipal water treatment facilities from around the U.S., are also involved in developing new guidelines to enhance the protection of potential sites for a bioterrorist attack, such as municipal water supplies.
NSF International has been dedicated to improving public health, safety, and the environment for over 55 years. Our Consumer Affairs Office has received many questions from consumers concerned about the threat of a bio-terrorism attack. To help address some of the more common questions we are receiving from consumers, NSF has put together the following information and links in case you have further questions.
