NSF International Opens Abu Dhabi Office to Meet Growing Demand for Testing, Certification and Auditing Services

NSF International, a global independent public health organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the water, food, health sciences and consumer goods industries, has opened an office in Abu Dhabi to better meet the growing demand for testing, certification, auditing, consulting and training services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). NSF International has been active in the Middle East for more than 25 years, working with more than 1,000 companies in the region. Establishing the NSF Middle East office will help NSF better meet the needs of its clients. NSF Middle East provides auditing and product certification services for the water and food industries, as well as quality and environmental management systems certification. > Read More

NSF International Promotes Three Leaders and Scientific Experts to Key Global Positions

NSF International, a global independent public health organization that writes standards, and tests and certifies products for the health sciences, water, food and consumer goods industries, has promoted three leading scientific experts to its executive, health sciences and laboratory teams.

  • Lori Bestervelt, Ph.D., has been promoted to NSF International Executive Vice President and Chief Technical Officer (CTO), formerly serving as NSF Senior Vice President and CTO.
  • Bob Pietrowski, Ph.D., has been promoted to Vice President of NSF International’s Global Health Sciences Division, formerly Managing Partner of NSF-DBA.
  • Kurtis Kneen, Ph.D., has been promoted to Vice President of NSF International’s Global Laboratories, formerly Director of NSF’s Chemistry Laboratories. > Read More

Certifiers to Harmonize Chemical Risk Assessment Process

To further protect public health, reduce duplicative costs, increase efficiency and promote transparency of human health risk assessment action levels, CSA Group, NSF International, IAPMO R&T, UL, and the Water Quality Association will now use harmonized procedures to develop action levels for unregulated chemical contaminants originating from products in contact with drinking water. The harmonized process will be used by all five certification organizations immediately. > Read More

NSF Becker & Associates Consulting, Inc., part of global independent public health organization NSF International, has launched a new program to assist companies in achieving 360 operational compliance to the commercial practices of the life science industry. Industry veteran Francisco (Frank) T. Rivas, who has more than 25 years' experience in all aspects of the pharmaceutical, diagnostics and medical device industry, has been appointed to lead the NSF Becker Corporate Compliance Practice Group.

International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council of the Americas (IPEC-Americas) Approves Sale of Its IPEA Auditing Subsidiary to NSF International

The International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council of the Americas (IPEC-Americas) — an international non-profit comprised of pharmaceutical and excipient manufacturers and distributors — has approved the sale of its IPEA auditing subsidiary to NSF International. The transaction is expected to be finalized in spring 2013 and will position NSF International as a leader in the excipient auditing arena and will enable NSF to develop new service offerings and deliver excipient, food additive and dietary supplement ingredient audits together. > Read More

NSF Sustainability Launches VOC Emissions Testing and Certification Program for Commercial Furniture Industry

NSF Sustainability, a division of global independent public health organization NSF International, has partnered with emissions testing leader Materials Analytical Services, LLC (MAS) to offer VOC (volatile organic compounds) emission testing for the commercial and institutional furniture industry.
