NSF International and the UK’s Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) have formed a partnership to deliver world class hygiene management standards to Samsung Everland

SEOUL, South Korea — As South Korea’s largest contract caterer, Samsung Everland is leading the way in Asia with its strong commitment to promoting internationally-recognized levels of food safety and hygiene.

So far, NSF International, a global public health and safety organization, has trained 20 of the company’s senior management staff with the CIEH’s Level 3 qualification in ‘Supervising Food Safety in Catering’ (this is the first CIEH course ever run in South Korea). Working with the CIEH, NSF International* will develop a comprehensive food safety training program offered throughout Asia, building on its already strong food safety presence in the region.

The CIEH is the UK’s leading awarding body for vocational qualifications in accredited food safety, health and safety, and environmental protection qualifications. An ambitious organization, the CIEH plans to extend its public health message worldwide and has accredited courses and trainers operating in the Middle East, Hong Kong and now Asia. In the USA, the CIEH has secured ten percent of the food safety training market.

Dan Fone, Director of Business Development – Global Food Safety at NSF International, said:

“NSF in Asia Pacific already works with many of the top 100 global restaurant, catering and retail businesses. Accredited training is a natural extension of our food safety services and dovetails perfectly with the extension of the CIEH’s own highly regarded qualifications into Asian countries. We are delighted to be working with such a respected body and together we offer unsurpassed expertise and experience to our clients in Asia.”

Frank Post, Commercial Director of the CIEH, added:

“The strength of our partnership with NSF International is evidenced by the successful training of managers in South Korea. The CIEH and NSF together are strategically well-positioned to spread our educational and public health message to this fast developing part of the world.”

Samsung Everland is delighted with the successful results achieved by their managers on the training course. Mr. Byoungtaeg Jung, Director of the Sanitation & Quality Team commented:

“We are always keen to adopt global best practice at Samsung Everland, and we feel that this training is an important step in helping our managers achieve the highest international standards in safety and hygiene.”
