Derek DeLand MPH, REHS/RS
Derek DeLand has nearly 25 years of experience in environmental health. He serves as a point of contact for regulators and state, county and local health agencies to build awareness of NSF’s standards, certification, registration and inspection programs.
Prior to joining NSF, Mr. DeLand worked for 19 years at the Lenawee County Health Department in Michigan. Most recently, he served as its Director of Environmental Health, managing all environmental health programs including food safety, water supply and sewage disposal. Earlier, he served as a sanitarian conducting regulatory compliance activities, taking the lead in writing the local environmental health code and amending the foodservice enforcement policy to align with the FDA Food Code.
Mr. DeLand is a member of the National Environmental Health Association and earned an MPH with an environmental health concentration from the University of Illinois-Springfield.
