PROVEN4 SPORT Counts on NSF Certified for Sport® to Differentiate Products
In 2010, Shelley Winslow started the business plan and concept for Proven4. As a fitness enthusiast, she had a clear vision for the quality of ingredients she wanted to use in our own life and modeled Proven4 after that vision.
Winslow previously worked for her father’s pharmaceutical company, packaging and manufacturing generic drugs according to the U.S. FDA. While working in that industry, Shelley fell in love with the energy and mission of the nutraceutical industry, but the lack of FDA guidelines and standard operating procedures in that industry prevented her from working in that dynamic category.
A few years later, she decided to start her own line of sports supplements, adhering to the guidelines and procedures she learned in the pharmaceutical industry. As she became more integrated into the professional sports world, she became aware of the demand for third-party testing of sports supplements to ensure they were banned substance-free and label claim verified.
Winslow realized that to compete in the sports supplement industry and create a product she was proud of and trusted to be safe, she needed to incorporate NSF Certified for Sport® testing for her products. She pitched her idea to her friend and 14-year Major League Baseball veteran Frank Catalanotto. After a year of planning, the two launched Proven4 Sport live on their website and attended their first MLB Winter Meetings, where they began to seed the strength coaches of each team with samples to try.
Now, in 2024, Proven4 products can be found in most MLB and MiLB clubhouses, the NFL, NHL, NBA and MLS. Proven4’s consumer market has also grown to include first responders and U.S. military members around the world.
