NSF Certifies Ener-C Dietary Supplement Products to NSF Non-GMO True North
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — NSF, an independent global organization committed to protecting and improving public health for more than 70 years, today announced NSF Non-GMO True North certification of the Ener-C line of dietary supplements manufactured by Pauling Labs, Inc. in Coquitlam, B.C., Canada. NSF Non-GMO True North certification utilizes elements of U.S., EU and global genetically modified organism (GMO) labeling requirements, including compliance to segregation, traceability, supplier approval, monitoring and testing. Beyond this, the NSF Non-GMO True North program adds risk assessment, chain of custody sampling and independent testing.
“Certification of Pauling Labs’ Ener-C line of dietary supplements to NSF Non-GMO True North confirms the company is committed to consumers and has taken active measures to reduce the presence of GMO ingredients to the lowest extent practical and possible,” said Sarah Krol, Global Managing Director, Food Safety, NSF. “Certification to NSF Non-GMO True North allows the manufacturer to use the global ‘Non GMO’ mark on certified product packaging and to receive support from NSF, a leader in providing expertise and accredited services across the supply chain from farm to fork.”
NSF offers a suite of GMO transparency services for retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and producers. The NSF Non-GMO True North certification requires manufacturers to use food safety quality systems best practices including segregation, traceability and supplier approval and monitoring programs. Additionally, to ensure consumer confidence and transparency, NSF Non-GMO True North requires a risk assessment, chain of custody documentation for high-risk ingredients, sampling and testing and may include unannounced audits. NSF Non-GMO True North certification also verifies sourcing and production claims on packaging and in marketing materials.
“Pauling Labs, Inc. selected NSF’s Non-GMO True North certification for the Ener-C product line because it provides the gold standard in testing and verification,” said Richard I. Pollock, President, Pauling Labs, Inc. “Certification to NSF Non-GMO True North is a natural fit for Ener-C, an active-living product for our customers, including athletes. This certification provides our customers with the confidence and transparency they seek in non-GMO products.”
